Fivizzano reached its splendor under the rule of the Florentine family of Medici .In 1540 Cosimo Medici built the city walls and in Cosimo III built the fountain, symbol of the village. In Fivizzano you can visit the Printing Museum and the Museum of the Church of San Giovanni, near our hostel. Not far from the city center we invite you to visit the village and the castle of Verrucola, the Romanesque church of Pognana and watermill of Arlia.
Castles, museums and churches in Lunigiana
Castles and medieval villages characterize the whole Lunigiana, an ancient and mysterious land. Here was the ancient Way of the Holy Face, variant of the Via Francigena. We should visit the Romanesque church of St. Paul, , the beautiful Castello dell'Aquila, at the feet of Apuan Alps. If you're staying for a few days in Lunigiana you can not miss a visit to the Museum of Stele Statues at Piagnaro Castle in Pontremoli, to or a walk in the beautiful medieval villages of Filetto and Ponticello.
